FAQs
Shipping Info
I typically ship out orders on Tuesdays and Fridays. Occasionally I will ship in between if I have many orders that need to go out. I ship via USPS First-Class Mail. Delivery typically takes 2-5 business days once it is picked up by USPS.
Do you make custom orders/commission pieces?
I do occasionally make custom pieces, however I am not accepting any comissions at the present time.
What is oxidized metal (copper, silver)?
Oxidized metal is raw metal that has been oxidized using sulfur to form a patina (the dark parts of the metal). This would occur naturally with time, what I do is basically speed up the process. I then buff the metal to add highlights and dimension to the piece. The finished result is an "aged" or "antique" look.
What is Electroformed/Electroforming?
Electroforming is the electrochemical deposition of metal (in this case, copper) onto an object. An anode (copper) and a cathode (object) are immersed in an electrolytic bath that is composed of a solution of metal salts (Copper Sulphate [CuSO4]). A direct current (DC) of electricity is passed through the solution via anode(+) and cathode(-), affecting the transfer of metal ions present in solution onto the cathode surface, building up over time and bonding the metal onto the object. Basically it's an awesome scientific process that I like to think of as "Where science meets art".
How should I care for my pieces from Slightly Twisted Designs?
JEWELRY - It is recommended not to shower, exercise, or sleep in any of the jewelry. Do not expose your Slightly Twisted Designs to any chemicals (such as chlorine found in hot tubs and swimming pools.)
Some gemstones (Amethyst, Aquamarine,Citrine, Sapphires, Opals, etc) are sensitive to the sun - this may cause the color of the stone to fade. Avoid intense or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. I don't suggest hanging your pendant from your rear view mirror.
Avoid submerging Slightly Twisted Designs featuring opals in any liquid. Opals are susceptible to absorbing liquids.
After oxidizing the metals, I leave it in its natural state, I do not coat it in any sealers unless specifically noted, so the natural/raw metal will continue to slowly darken over time and with wear. If you ever feel like you would like to lighten the patina, you can dip it in Worcestershire sauce (weird right?!), or you can buff the metal the item with a polishing cloth (Sunshine cloths) or a polishing pad (I use Pro-Polish Pads) to remove any excess patina when needed.
PAINTINGS/DRAWINGS - keep artwork out of direct sunlight.

DISCLAIMERS
My art/jewelry is not intended for children and may have small parts that can be swallowed, please keep out of reach of children. While I do my best to use the best craftsmanship possible, none of my creations are indestructable. Especially items that are electroformed. Do your best to handle with care. Do not attempt to bend, twist, or scratch any of the pieces.
Labradorite is a gemstone that has a gorgeous colorful flash at certain angles, but at some angles it can look black/grey. This is just the nature of the stone. Same is true for Rainbow Moonstone, at some angles you see colorful flashes, but at other angles it appears white.
